Daniel Garcia, W2DIY, is an Amateur Extra class operator based in New York. Licensed in February 2025, he quickly advanced through his exams and achieved his Extra license in May of 2025. He is active in Parks on the Air, contesting, and public service communications, and participates in several local amateur radio clubs on Long Island.

Daniel is a broadcast journalism student, graduating in May of 2026, with on-air and production experience in college radio and television. He is a two-time recipient of the Press Club of Long Island’s Best College TV Personality Award (2024 and 2025) and the 2025 Intercollegiate Broadcasting System Award winner for Best On-Air Personality nationally, and was named a finalist again in 2026.

He operates a personal ham radio blog focused on experimentation, education, and his operating experiences, and is especially interested in encouraging younger operators to explore amateur radio through modern media and hands-on learning. You can check out his blog, or contact him at W2DIY.com
