Dave hails from the United Kingdom, and gained his Foundation license in 2021 during lockdown when he realised he had no friends to break lockdown rules with.

“Foundation” license?  Think Technician class but with most of the HF bands, and a British stiff upper lip.

Dave’s radio (as in RF) roots date back to the late 70s/early 80’s - I know, he doesn’t look that old, does he? - when he was introduced to the world of CB/11m by his father.

His radio (as in voice) roots are slightly more recent as he has been hosting The Bugcast - an independent music podcast - with his wife since 2008.  He also hosts/co-hosts/produces other podcasts in the technical sphere, including for Hacker Public Radio where he’s published at least two episodes about Amateur Radio.  Yes, two.  Wow.

By day, Dave works in infosec.  By night, when he’s not doing radio he’s 3D printing, reading, or polishing his Raspberry Pi collection.

Dave recently had a proud dad squee moment when his youngest son, Alex, passed his Foundation license also… so we now have two annoying nerds in the house quoting Q-codes at each other all day.
